In a breakthrough, police have uncovered a racket involving the supply of firearms through fake licenses. Five individuals were arrested from Asansol, with police recovering illegal firearms, including a shotgun and several cartridges. The operation, linked to Bihar, revealed that these individuals had been working as gunmen using forged licenses.
The investigation began after Durgapur's Coke-Woven police station made the first arrest in connection to the illegal gun supply. After interrogating the accused, shocking details emerged, leading Kulti police to arrest five people across various locations in Kulti.
The arrested individuals include Biki Yadav, Sheikh Refai, Prakash Nonia, Gopal Kesri, and Jaganarayan Singh, all hailing from Dhemomein, Kulti, and Jharkhand.
Police have seized two double-barrel guns, three single-barrel guns, and 18 rounds of fresh cartridges from the suspects. These illegal firearms were reportedly brought in from Bihar and distributed using fake licenses created through receivers. The investigation is ongoing to uncover the full extent of this racket.
